The Cowboys—The Wild, Wild West live on the road

The Cowboys consist of former band members and a founding member of the most successful German country band of all time – TRUCK STOP.

Today – five decades later – it is precisely those musicians who helped shape the sound of that era who are once again lacing up their boots. They are now back on stage under the name DIE COWBOYS. Joining them are Rainer Bach and Uwe Lost, Dirk Schlag, Chris Kaufmann, and Florian Lost, all singers and musicians who made country music big in Germany.

Rainer Bach, former original member of Truck Stop, was not only responsible for composing many big hits such as “Ich möchte so gern Dave Dudley hören” (I'd love to hear Dave Dudley), “Der Wilde Wilde Westen” (The Wild Wild West) and “Old Texas Town, die Westernstadt” (Old Texas Town, the Western Town), but also shaped these hits with his lead vocals.

Uwe Lost, who spent 45 years on stage with Truck Stop and worked in the studio, created “Große Haie, kleine Fische” (Big Sharks, Little Fish), a Hamburg cult classic that has been the theme song of the successful ARD cult series “Großstadtrevier” for over 30 years.

Dirk Schlag joined Truck Stop as the new guitarist in 2003 when founding member Erich Doll had to hang up his cowboy hat for health reasons. Dirk Schlag stayed until 2013 and then moved on to “Santiano,” with whom he now fills arenas.

Chris Kaufman joined Truck Stop in 2015 and has been developing the band's guitar sound with fresh and contemporary guitar riffs. He now plays for the Cowboys in his tried-and-tested style.

Like Dirk Schlag, Chris Kaufman now plays in the upper echelons of the music scene, touring stadiums such as the Olympic Stadium in Munich with Andreas Gabalier, among others. He is also successful on the European country scene in a duo with Wild As Her.

The Cowboys have also brought further reinforcement on board: Bo Heart is a keyboardist, singer, and composer from Hamburg. In addition to releasing his own recordings, he has worked with artists such as Xavier Naidoo, Edo Zanki, and Klaus Lage, composed numerous pieces of music, and written music for audiobooks. He was also a member of the LostGang with Dirk Schlag, Florian, and Uwe Lost for many years.

Florian Lost (son of Uwe Lost) on drums and vocals completes the band.

The cowboys want to revive the glory days, naturally bringing with them all the big hits from their original band, such as “Der wilde Westen” (The Wild West), “Ich möcht' so gern Dave Dudley hör'n,” “Großstadtrevier,” “Old Texas Town, die Westernstadt” and more – over “50 bunte Jahre” (50 colorful years), as one of their new song titles reveals, and other new pieces that stand in the great country tradition of their past.

Also included are country classics that have influenced them musically in an incomparable musical form, e.g., songs by country rock legends The Eagles or country hits from the late 60s such as “Marylou- Goodbye Heart” or “Hello Josephine.”

The initial spark came in December 2024: “I just felt like playing live again,” says initiator Uwe Lost. "And when I heard that concerts were possible at the legendary Studio Maschen (where it all began) – our former musical home – I just called the guys.

The response? Overwhelming. After the first announcement on social media, the concert was completely sold out within an hour. Two evenings followed, full of emotion, shining eyes, audience sing-alongs, and pure joy of playing.

“It was as if time had stood still,” says Rainer Bach. “We played the songs that made history back then – and the energy was immediately back.”

THE COWBOYS are not a nostalgia show, but rather country power brought to life by musicians who know how to tell stories—with guitars, voices, and genuine passion—in other words, PURE COUNTRY.

Marie Juana's last joint - a hippie thriller

The year 1999 is drawing to a close and the new millennium is just around the corner. But Sabine, a young-at-heart old hippie, and her child Michi remain in the flower power era. For Michi, however, the power is limited. Everyday life is characterized by “peace, pot and free love”, with marijuana playing a decisive role. In an atmosphere of tolerance, respect and serenity, Sabine likes to discuss the essential questions of life at length: world peace, international understanding, the end of capitalism and even the fear that the lights could go out on December 31 due to IT systems.

The two don't really see eye to eye on these issues, and they are beginning to long for change - they are ready for the island. The invitation to the big millennium party “HIGH END” on the tiny island of Hellegraskog comes at just the right time. The island, owned by beach chair tycoon Tim le Ary, serves as the venue for a retreat to “open up” on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of Woodstock. The spirit of the 70s is conjured up and the colorful mix of participants, from old 68s hippies to 90s party girls, dive deep into a world that has not yet been completely forgotten. With and in the grass, they work on themselves courageously and substantially.

But then the unthinkable happens - a murder in the midst of an atmosphere of love, peace and bliss. A lifeless figure lies in the white sand. Who pushed Marie Juana over the cliff? Was it a desire to take off, or was there more to it? Was it even an accident? Discover the truth by investigating between mantras and mackerel together with the pair of investigators Schall and Rauch.

“Cheerful and contemplative short stories from around the world”

Time is short and attention spans are usually short—so short stories are just the thing. The selected stories include “The Flea” by Kurt Tucholsky, “The Laugh” by Heinrich Böll, and “The Revolution” by Slawomir Mrozwk. Despite their brevity, these short stories reveal astonishing literary depth.

Ines Hommann:

"I have been a professional voice artist for over a decade, offering a wide range of voice services, and I also have extensive stage experience and presence. My training as a voice artist, presenter, and actress began in 2012. After a career change, I took intensive acting lessons and attended courses in voice training, speech therapy, music theory, and singing. In addition, I had the opportunity to learn the craft of microphone speaking from well-known dubbing artists in numerous courses and workshops.
